TURKISH DELIGHT! 50 SHIPS NOW COATED WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE MARINELINE® IN TURKEY SINCE FIRST SHIP THERE COATED IN 2001

TURKEY – August 15, 2005 — MarineLine® continues to impress the marine transportation industry with its ongoing performance, as evidenced by the mid-summer milestone news that in Turkey alone, the 50th ship has now been coated with MarineLine® since the first ship was coated in that country in 2001.

MarineLine® is the unique lining system by Advanced Polymer Coatings - APC (Avon, Ohio, USA.) Marine chemical and product tanker ship owners throughout the world have sought to put this protection in place to carry all types of IMO hazardous chemicals and cargoes.

In Turkey, the 50 ships coated have ranged in size from 3500dwt to 15,000dwt tankers, and have been for both Turkish and European ship owners. They carry cargoes such as sulfuric, phosphoric and acetic acids, methanol, acrylinitrile, caustics and other chemical throughout the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

According to Mr. Mumtaz Yildiz, Managing Director, Chemmariner, Ltd., based in Istanbul, Turkey, "We have already coated the third and fourth ships in our fleets with MarineLine® because, as owners, we have realized the high success rate and tremendous return on investment of our initial ships that were coated."

The reason ship owners are turning to MarineLine® is that the lining has proven repeatedly to deliver solid, profitable results.

APC’s Mr. Donald Keehan, Chairman, points out that the advantage of MarineLine® starts with the coating’s versatility. "Ship owners can carry any IMO-approved cargo in a MarineLine®-coated tank from acids to caustics to solvents. Because the coating is virtually impermeable, the tanks can be easily and quickly cleaned so the ship can carry a different cargo on its next voyage. This faster in-port turnaround leads to more profit for the ship owner, plus the security in knowing the cargo is safely contained."

Advanced Polymer Coatings employs its own team of professional inspectors to oversee the tank surface preparation and the MarineLine® coating application. Heat curing, the most challenging part of the finishing process is controlled by APC to ensure the coating is properly cured and ready for service prior to leaving the shipyard. This allows the ship to load any IMO approved cargo, rather than waiting 90 days for a phenol epoxy to cure.

"We’re proud of our achievement in coating the 50th ship this summer in Turkey – Chemmariner’s new 7,100 dwt chemical tanker. This points out clearly MarineLine® is now accepted as the premier tank coating in the world, and that we’re helping safely grow the hazardous marine transport industry worldwide," Mr. Keehan adds.
